Poker Chips

As much as we love playing cards at davinciplayingcards.com, playing cards are only half of the equation for a fun gaming night.  Everyone knows that a great set of poker chips is the key to being able to play games like poker and blackjack with the excitement of playing in a casino.  For the home market there are two major categories of poker chips: clay poker chips and composite poker chips.

Clay poker chips are considered to be premium poker chips, as while modern casinos use proprietary blends of clays and ceramics, in the old days casino poker chips were made of clay.  For this reason, clay poker chips are considered to be the closest in feel and sound to authentic casino poker chips for the home market.  Of course being the premium poker chip doesn't come without drawbacks. Clay poker chips, because they are made of a relatively soft material, tend to scratch somewhat easily and are also more expensive than their composite poker chip counterparts. Composite poker chips, on the other hand, are made of a harder material and thus are not nearly as succeptible to scratches or chipping than clay poker chips.  The disadvantage to composite poker chips, however, is that, because of the harder material they are made from, they are more slippery than clay poker chips making them harder to grab in stacks, and they tend to sound a little more "plastic-ey" than clay poker chips.
